A full asphalt-shingle roof installation in Lake Forest, Orange County. The homeowner selected Owens Corning architectural shingles in Copper Trail - a warm copper-brown colorway with a multi-tone shadow line that reads as texture from the curb without looking busy. The aerial photos show a clean, professionally finished field with straight ridges, properly aligned hips, and uniform shingle placement across a multi-plane roof.
The tear-off revealed a single layer of old shingles that had reached the end of its service life. The decking underneath was in solid condition, which is typical for Lake Forest homes of this vintage. Any loose fasteners were re-nailed and the deck was swept clean before the new system went down.
The underlayment system started with a high-temp synthetic underlayment across the entire field. Valleys and the area around the chimney and pipe penetrations got self-adhered ice-and-water membrane. New step-flashing was installed at the wall-to-roof transition and the chimney was re-counter-flashed with painted aluminum to match the fascia.
The shingles are Owens Corning architectural-grade in Copper Trail. The warm copper-brown colorway blends with the neighborhood's earth-tone landscaping and the homeowner's exterior. Architectural shingles give the roof dimensional shadow lines that read as texture from the street without looking busy.
Ridge venting was added the full length of the main ridge. Balanced attic ventilation is a requirement for most shingle warranties. Without it, heat builds up in the attic, accelerates granule loss, and shortens the roof's service life. We also checked the soffit intake to make sure the venting system is balanced from top to bottom.
Four aerial photos document the completed installation from above, showing the geometric layout of the roof planes, the clean ridge lines, and the finished Copper Trail field.
