Asphalt Shingle Roof Installation - Aerial Documentation

A seven-photo project with multiple aerial drone perspectives documenting a completed shingle installation on a single-story ranch with complex multi-plane geometry. The aerial photos verify ridge alignment, hip straightness, and ventilation placement. Full tear-off, synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water membrane, architectural shingles in a mid-gray blend.

Asphalt Shingle Roof Installation - Aerial Documentation: Project Notes

Drone photography has changed how we document our work. Before drones, the only photos a homeowner ever saw of their roof were the contractor's phone snaps from a ladder. Now we can show the full geometry of the finished install, the ridge venting placement, and the overall result in a way that wasn't possible 10 years ago.

This was a seven-photo project - including multiple aerial perspectives showing the finished work from above. The home is a single-story ranch with a complex roof geometry that runs from the front gable across the main hip and back to a smaller secondary hip over the rear addition. From the ground, you can't see how the planes meet. From the air, you can verify that every hip is straight, every ridge cap is aligned, and every plane meets cleanly at the correct angles.

The installation: full tear-off down to deck, deck inspection and replacement of any soft sections, synthetic underlayment across the field, ice-and-water membrane in valleys and around penetrations, new step-flashing at all wall-to-roof transitions, architectural shingles in a mid-gray blend, hip-and-ridge caps installed per spec, and ridge venting added the full length of the main ridge.

Seven photos: deck-prep ground shot, mid-install ground shot, post-install ground shot, and four aerial drone shots showing the field, the hips, the ridge venting, and the overall geometry of the finished roof.
