Asphalt Shingle Roof Installation - Modern Gray Architectural Shingles

A modern home with clean rooflines deserves a shingle field that reads as a single unbroken plane from the curb.

On this project the homeowner wanted to keep the contemporary aesthetic of the home - black window frames, white stucco, minimal ornamentation - and the roof had to match that sensibility. A dimensional shadow line reads as texture from the curb without looking busy. The mid-gray color sits in the neutral zone that doesn't compete with either cool white stucco or warm-toned siding.

Full tear-off down to deck. The deck was in good condition - original OSB with no soft spots. Synthetic underlayment across the field, ice-and-water membrane in valleys. New step-flashing reset at every wall-to-roof transition. Owens Corning architectural shingles in a mid-gray dimensional blend, installed with careful attention to alignment - on a modern home, every shingle row that runs even 1/4 inch off-square shows from the curb.

Ridge venting was added across the full ridge length, balanced with intake at the soffits. The vent is low-profile and barely visible from grade - the right choice for a home where aesthetics matter.
